Residential and commercial caulking

Why caulk?

After 10-15 years, the caulking installed in openings between doors, windows and masonry dries out and is no longer waterproof. As a result, water may seep into poorly caulked joints and brick degradation problems are to be expected.

What is caulking?

Caulking consists of filling the joints with an expandable product to prevent water and even air from infiltrating between two surfaces.

What type of caulking should I choose?

CAM Construction uses the commercial grade type of NP1 caulking. It lasts twice as long as a standard caulking and is more expandable. It is used to seal the junctions between cornices, between 2 different types of materials, between balconies and masonry. Several colors are available for a beautiful harmonization of the different surfaces.

Good to know about caulking

If you own a townhouse in Montreal, check the caulking. This type of construction has vertical straight mortar joints that separate two different masonry facings. As the expansion of the caulking is uneven, the joints eventually crack and let water in easily.

Rather than redo the straight mortar joint, which will eventually crack again, CAM Construction designs an NP1 expansion joint that fully adheres to both types of masonry. A long-term solution that allows substantial savings.
